Steatite Ceramics

Steatite is a kind of common silicate mineral. It is quite soft and feels creamy. 10 minerals had been selected to represent the 10 hardness levels, called Moss hardness. In this 10 levels, the first one (that is, the softest one) is steatite. The soft steatite can replace the white chalk to draw the scene. Steatite is generally with blocky, foliaceous, fibrous or radial shape. Its color is white and gray, and can have various colors due to containing other impurities. Steatite is used a lot, such as refractory, paper, rubber packing, insulating materials, lubricants, pesticides absorbent, leather coatings, cosmetic materials and engraving materials, etc.
