Silicon nitride clamps play a crucial role in melting furnace crucibles, with their core functions including:

High-Temperature Clamping and Fixing: Silicon nitride ceramic fixtures can operate stably in high-temperature environments of 1200-1400℃, providing reliable clamping and fixing functions for melting furnace crucibles. Their excellent high-temperature strength retention (flexural strength can still reach 600 MPa at 1200℃) ensures structural integrity during high-temperature melting processes.

1. Thermal Shock Resistance: The fixtures possess excellent thermal shock resistance, capable of withstanding sudden heating and cooling shocks of ΔT > 1000℃ without cracking. This characteristic allows them to adapt to frequent temperature changes during the melting process, such as charging and tapping operations.

2. Chemical Inertness Barrier: Silicon nitride is inert to most molten metals (especially non-ferrous metals) and molten salts, and is not prone to chemical reactions or contamination of the melt. In an oxidizing atmosphere, a protective SiO₂ layer forms on the surface, further enhancing corrosion resistance.

3. Wear and Erosion Resistance: High hardness (Vickers hardness 1480-1560 GPa) and wear resistance enable the fixtures to resist erosion from molten metals and slag, significantly extending their service life.

4. Insulation and Safety Protection: In electric melting applications, the high resistivity (10¹⁵~10¹⁶ Ω at room temperature) and dielectric strength (15-20 kV/mm) of silicon nitride ceramics effectively prevent current leakage, ensuring operational safety.
